The Volume Factor

As a specialty, orthodontics has a greater production potential than virtually any other area of the profession. I call this the volume factor, which means that orthodontists can see a significant number of patients, resulting in high levels of production and profitability, without increasing overhead.

I realize that the economy is slowing many practices down. However, orthodontic practices that have ongoing referral marketing programs are still attracting a huge number of referred patients. After years of working with orthodontic practices, I have developed a tremendous respect for what they can accomplish. There is no question that a high-volume, low-stress practice can be achieved. This often provides orthodontists with three-day workweeks, six or more weeks of vacation a year, and financial independence by their early 50’s.

Best of all, these orthodontists really enjoy the specialty. What could be more fun than being great at your job and loving what you do?
